1/7 to 2/15 :  Lime application - Maintenance level of top-quality, high-calcium, non-dolomitic lime to help keep your lawn's pH level stable.  Spot spraying weeds as needed - rarely needed but we spray them when we see them. (Optional "Corrective" Lime application is available if the pH needs adjusting)

Lime is essential for a healthy lawn, but many companies either charge extra or use cheap alternatives like dolomitic lime (the kind you find at big box stores). At KEMCO Pest & Lawn, we use the right products and apply them properly, while also spot-treating problem areas to keep your lawn healthy, strong, and thriving year-round. Many other companies skip this step, letting issues continue unchecked. 

2/15 to 3/15:  Spring proprietary blend of both a Broadleaf pre-emergent plus Grassy Weed pre-emergent.  "Blanket" spray weed control as needed.

3/16 to 4/30:  Early Summer Weed pre-emergent, "blanket" spray weed control.

Many lawn companies only apply a single spring pre-emergent. It’s cheaper, but it often leaves weeds a chance to take hold. At KEMCO Pest & Lawn, we use a split double-treatment, and spray the entire lawn—including hidden spots where tiny weeds may be hiding.

5/1 to 6/15: "Quick Green Up" high Nitrogen fertilization, Micro-nutrient blend, plus humic acid and KELP extract.

FACT: Kelp extract is one of the most effective natural biostimulants for improving turf and soil health. 

Most lawn spray companies skip micronutrients and never add kelp or a similar soil conditioner, missing key elements your lawn needs to thrive. At KEMCO Pest & Lawn, we include both to improve soil health, strengthen roots, and deliver a greener, thicker, healthier lawn you can see and enjoy. 

6/15 to 7/20: Balanced, slow-release Nitrogen and Potassium fertilizer, plus FREE General turf insect control included in the application.  Spot spray weeds as needed, as well as sedges and kylinga.

7/20 to 8/30: Slow-release Nitrogen with higher Potassium fertilzer for root promotion during late Summer and Fall. Spot spray sedges and other weeds as needed.

Other lawn companies use the same high-nitrogen fertilizer all season long. While that may create quick green-ups (and extra mowing), it doesn’t support what your lawn really needs to stay healthy—like iron for color and potassium to build strong roots and help your lawn handle Memphis heat. At KEMCO Pest & Lawn, we focus on feeding your lawn the right nutrients at the right time for better, longer-lasting results.

9/1 to 10/15:  Pre-emergent for Fall and Winter weeds and Poa annua control plus blanket spray for weeds. (SpecticleFlo used on warm-season turfgrasses)

There are many professional-grade pre-emergent options, but only Specticle FLO is the gold standard for Fall applications on Zoysia and Bermuda. It helps stop weeds like annual bluegrass (Poa annua) and 70+ others before they appear. It costs more, but the results are worth it—always ask what’s being used on your lawn. Ask what products are being used on your lawn.
