Per the CDC, mosquitoes (due to the diseases they may carry) are the most deadly animal on planet EARTH! Even though we may not have to deal with some of these diseases, mosquitoes here in the USA may still carry many including Zeka and the West Nile Virus, just to name a few.
Our Program VS Every Other Company:
This is the longest page on our website... by FAR! And we know it goes against "website rules" to keep it "short and sweet". But we think the information will be well worth it! There is a lot of confusion in the public domain regarding mosquito control and we would like to share some information with you today which we hope you will find of interest:
Regardless of what company you choose, as long as the technician knows the correct areas to mist, we are all "spraying something" for mosquitoes. Makes sense, right?
For example, mosquitoes will not be found in the middle of a bright, unshaded lawn on a sunny day. If they flew there, they would dry out and die quickly. Secondly, mosquitoes are oddly not very strong fliers. They fly low then rest. More flying low, then rest. That is how they travel from place to place. At most they will only go up about 8 to 10 feet into a tree canopy to rest during the heat of the day. It takes too much energy for them to fly higher.
For a mosquito control program to be effective, the tech must spray the areas where mosquitoes live, rest and breed as mosquitoes will generally reproduce as soon as every 14 days. Our techs are well trained on where to mist the product to get the best efficacy for your investment.
What Mosquito Control product(s) KEMCO uses VS "Joe Blow" other companies?
That is an extremely important question and unfortunately it varies greatly from company to company! BUT this is the HUGE difference! KEMCO's "No-Go Mosquito" program utilizes what is hands down the absolute best, longest-lasting residual mosquito control product on the market today.
What is this product? Some secret formula?
No... Not at all, in fact we are going to share with you the EXACT product we use. A product that you can purchase online, leagally, without a license if you want to tackle this job yourself and have the misting equipment, personal protection gear with proper P100 plus organic filter respirator, and expertise to do it properly. That is up to you. However we recommed against this as a DIY.
The trade name of the product WE use is called OneGuard MOA (feel free to "google" that product for more information). Unlike products used by other companies, it works by 3 modes of action (MOA):
- On-contact Control: An extremely effective, quick-contact kill active ingredient, against all mosquito biotypes.
- Long-lasteing Residual Control: The second, a long-lasting, micro-encapsulated active ingredient that is picked up by returning mosquitoes that may have been missed by the first contact product. Depending on weather this residual may last from a couple weeks to up to a month or possibly longer.
- IGR - Insect Growth Regulator: The 3rd active ingredient in OneGuard MOA is an insect growth regulator which keeps larvae (which general contact products do not control) from ever growing into adults (including the biting females)!
OneGuard MOA is absolutely hands-down the superior product for mosquito control. Over the years we have tested at least half a dozen other products and countless combinations of them. To this day OneGuard is still the best and we will continue to use it (and test new products) until we find something better.
Other Companies Use?
If you currently have a mosquito "jane" or "doe" performing your mosquito control ask what products they use and how they work. Are you wasting your "Mosquito Dough"? The "cheap" way to go are "permethrin" products under trade names like Bifen or Bifenthrin plus some type of inexpensive IGR (if an IGR is even used). That type of spray can literally be mixed together for a few dollars per gallon, has no micro-encapsulation, and only has a very limited mosquito kill (some species are harder to kill than others). It's a product usually reserved for general turf pests and termites. It does not work nearly as well, not even in the same ballpark and probably not even in the same county. We have tried that and tested it and it doesn't work as well. Not even close!
Misting or Spraying?
Our KEMCO Pest & Lawn spray technicians only use commercial MISTING equipment for mosquito control. Why? Because it is the ONLY way to reach deep under brush and shrubs and into turf areas that need to be addressed. Misting also allows for the product to reach the undersides of leaves and deep into tree bark and thick brush where mosquitoes tend to rest during the heat of the day. Coarse hose sprays cannot reach these areas effectively, if at all.
What Now?
So now you know the difference. What about PRICE? Even though OneGuard MOA is one of the priceiest products for mosquito control on the market, it is (in our proven tests) worth every penny. We may not make the profits that other companies do on mosquito control, but we still price our services to be in line with our competition.
Pricing
Most homes fall within our $75 minimum per application. That is the per-application price (which includes the service fee) for season-long control when applied at roughly 3-week intervals, on contract. Our seasonal contract begins roughly the end of April and terminates at the end of October but we can work with you on the exact start and end dates at no extra cost. These applications "build" upon each other. The more applications the greater the control becomes.
If you just want a one-time application or a call when you want it done we can absolutely do that as well. Those start at $85 and we can usually coaver up to approximately a 3/4 acre property (although this may vary based on how much landscaping/shrubs need to be treated).
